The process of flocking technology: applying adhesive → flocking → drying and baking → cleaning and brushing
(1) The viscosity of the adhesive should be controlled between 15000 and 30000 cp. If the viscosity is too high, it will be difficult for the plush processed to penetrate deeply into the base fabric, resulting in insufficient bonding strength of the plush and causing it to fall off; If the viscosity is too low, it is easy to penetrate into the interior of the base fabric. Although the fluff can penetrate into the inner layer of the adhesive, the wear resistance is improved, but the hand feel is relatively hard. Therefore, a thickness of 0.2-0.4mm for the adhesive layer is recommended.
(2) The amount of hair given to flocking affects the quality of the flocking fabric, and insufficient hair given results in insufficient flocking density; Excessive amount of fuzz will cause most of the fuzz to stick to the base fabric with adhesive, while the remaining fuzz that is not adhered will continue to fly up and down under the action of the electric field, affecting indoor cleaning.
(3) The purpose of pre drying is to evaporate the organic solvents and moisture in the adhesive. Usually around 80 ℃. The purpose of flocking processing and baking is to improve the fastness, which can firmly bond the adhesive with the fluff and base fabric. At low temperatures, the adhesion strength cannot be achieved. At high temperatures, the catalyst in the adhesive precipitates acidic substances, causing the base fabric to sulfide. The temperature is generally controlled at 150 ± 5 ℃.
(4) The purpose of cleaning is to recycle the floating brush on the plush fabric that has not been implanted with adhesive.
Gray fabric is also known as base fabric. The selection of flocking base fabric should be based on the purpose of the flocking product. Thick fabrics are suitable for curtains, felt blankets, and decorative fabrics, while lightweight fabrics are better for flocking fabrics used in clothing, hats, etc.
The raw materials for base fabrics are generally pure cotton, synthetic fibers, or a blend of both, but fabrics made of chlorinated polyester and polypropylene fibers are not suitable for use as plush base fabrics because of their poor heat resistance. In addition, elastic fabrics with shrinkage in flocking processing and chemical fiber fabrics without shaping treatment are not suitable as flocking base fabrics, because these types of base fabrics have a large width shrinkage rate during flocking.
